It just seems like an accident waiting to happen and given the recent flooding in the UK, and along the East coast, I cannot believe that anyone would even invest in the actual Pleasurama flats, let alone the supposed restaurants along the ground floor. How did this get planning permission? Can there be an inquiry into the risks for this site? Your thoughts would be welcomed..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7196642437552790719.post-16758372894276038042014-01-09T00:51:32.502+00:002014-01-09T00:51:32.502+00:00Barry, it's detailed in documents (Painter'...Barry, it's detailed in documents (Painter's own descriptions of SFP, from memory) on Michael's website from c.1-2 years ago. The Tories took over and continued with the agreement. The Tories under SE were advised in 2009 by council officers to end the agreement. SE and his Cabinet decided to ignore this advice. Labour took control of the Council in December 2011 and decided to continue with the SFP agreement. I began to raise doubts and concerns only to be heavily criticised by Ramsgate Labour Councillors David and Liz Green, Peter Campbell, Rick Everitt, Alan Poole and others. A number of Tory Councillors began to take an interest in the issue including Jo Gideon, Julie Marson, Chris Wells and Roz Binks. At the December 2012 meeting of the Council I moved a motion condemning the developers and used qualified privlidge to make allegations against Mr Terrence Painter a local estate agent with links to the Pleasurama Development. The entire Labour Group and 2 independents voted against my motion. The Conservative Group and 2 independents voted in support of my motion. The vote stood at 28 to 28. The Labour Chairman of the Council used his casting vote in what I believe to be an unprincipled party political manner, to oppose my motion. My motion was lost. Cllr David Green then said that he hoped that Mr Painter would sue me for libel. It was only in the spring of 2013 after FORS was set up and had gathered more than 1,000 signatures on their petition opposing Pleasurama that Labour Councillors became remotely interested in this issue. Bayford and Painter need to detail what they know about Pleasurama as they seem to have a very cosy relationship of property developer and accountant/councillor through the Ezekiel regime. As do Hart and Poole until last year, as it does look like tax havens and council bungs. And why are we waiting yet another month for admin technicalities to clear the site?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7196642437552790719.post-31984469972668014592014-01-07T09:56:05.199+00:002014-01-07T09:56:05.199+00:00Ian, you are perfectly aware that the Conservative...Ian, you are perfectly aware that the Conservative Group were not supporting SFP Ventures a year ago. Quite the contrary. I, along with Cllr Bayford, led the opposition to any amendment to the agreement at Scrutiny, to the disgust of its Labour members. Bob Bayford, along with yourself as then Chairman, called the Labour Cabinet decision into Scrutiny in the first place. We have consistently spoken against any concessions to the developer. When your motion was not discussed I believe that we had already discussed the same motion - there was never an effort by my party to support the developers in council and you know it. You have played an important role but please do not try to claim that you are or have ever been a lone voice on this subject (though I concede that you may be the loudest!). It has been the Labour Group trying to force through the amended agreement who were stopped in their tracks by Scrutiny and also the efforts of The Friends of Ramsgate Seafront who do indeed deserve huge credit.
